In truth, this is one of my favorite things to eat! Furthermore, one of my favorite breakfast foods. It’s perfection sitting next to a fried egg and some sliced avocado! Undeniably delicious! In general, I love salmons. Comparatively, canned salmon is usually cheaper and I find Aldi to be the most affordable.

Steps in making the best salmon burger recipe
First step in making the best salmon burger recipe
- Open both cans of salmon and place them into a fine mesh strainer, draining out all of the liquid.
- Dump salmon into a shallow, large bowl or a 9×13 baking dish. This will help to distribute the rest of the ingredients better without overmixing.
- Now add the chopped onion, celery and parsley, distributing it over the top of the salmon evenly.
- Mix the eggs and pour that over the mixture.
- Add the breadcrumbs or saltines along with any salt and pepper. If using saltine crackers maybe hold off on the salt until after the burgers are cooked.
- Mix it all together gently using your fingers.
Next step in making the best salmon burger recipe
- Prepare your pan by heating over medium to medium high heat. If using electric skillet, heat to 350 degrees.
- Melt butter in pan.
- Using a large cookie or ice cream scoop, scoop up a ball of the salmon
- Press together gently using your hands to form a patty or burger shape.
- Place on the preheated, buttered skillet and cook for about 4 -5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Flip and repeat. Adding more butter to second side if needed.
How to store salmon burgers
If you’d like to make your own homemade breadcrumbs, here is the link to the recipe I love best. Prior to knowing about the toasting of the crumbs, I just pulsed mine in the chopper and used them soft. However, the toasting makes the flavor way better and then you can make a bigger batch and store them for next time as well. Thank you, Lisa, for the best recipe, indeed! https://www.farmhouseonboone.com/how-to-make-sourdough-breadcrumbs/
I like to store them in the fridge for later use using sheets of parchment paper between the layers.
How long will salmon burgers keep in the fridge
Use within three days or freeze.
Can I freeze salmon patties
They can be frozen by placing them on a cookie sheet to freeze solid and then place in a freezer container or bag separating them with parchment in between before placing in freezer bag or container. This salmon burger recipe will last up to 3 months in the freezer.
How to thaw and cook frozen salmon burgers
Thaw them in the fridge overnight. Place in a 400-degree preheated oven for 10-15 minutes. Checking after 10 minutes for doneness.
You can use an air fryer also for a crispy exterior to this salmon burger recipe.
