How to make Easy Homemade Granola
First
First let’s talk about ingredients for a minute. Store bought granola is easy and convenient! So, why bother making it. There is so much unnecessary sugar and other additives in store bought granola. Making it at home, you can control the sugar content and use ingredients like real and pure maple syrup and raw, unfiltered honey. Furthermore, the price of store-bought granola is so high! Especially if you have a few children or teenagers in the house, you can easily go through a 6- or 8-dollar bag of granola in one sitting. That is definitely unaffordable!
Using sprouted products
Sprouted oats:
Sprouted oats are first and foremost easily digested! The mineral and vitamin content increases when the oats are sprouted. Sprouting makes them higher in protein and insoluble fiber. Additionally, purchasing organic sprouted oats ensures that they are FREE of the toxic chemical glyphosate.
Sprouted pumpkin seeds:
I try to eat sprouted pumpkin seeds every day. I eat them as a snack, on yogurt, in easy homemade granola, on toast with almond butter or in a salad. The possibilities are endless! Again, sprouting the seeds adds more health benefits. Sprouted pumpkin seeds are great for high blood pressure and high blood sugar. They have been used as a remedy for kidney stones and parasites. The seeds have anti-inflammatory properties and are great for boosting the immune system with antioxidants. They have been said to fight off cancer. Altogether, I’m in!
First, place the sprouted oats and dry milk powder into a bowl. You can skip the dry milk powder and replace it with more oats if desired. Add the salt and mix all three ingredients together. If you choose, at this point, you can add unsweetened, shredded coconut to the oats or just wait until the end and add already toasted coconut flakes like I do.
Mix together in a separate bowl, the honey, maple syrup, extracts and melted coconut oil.

Line a sheet pan with parchment if desired and preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Add the honey mixture to the oat mixture and stir well to thoroughly combine. Finally, dump the combined mix onto the parchment lined pan and spread it out evenly.
Next step in making easy homemade granola
Next, bake the granola for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, remove the granola from the oven, give it a good stir and add the nuts. You can choose any nuts you want. Stir the nuts into the granola and return to the oven for about 2 minutes. However, don’t walk away at this point! You don’t want the nuts to burn or overcook. You just want to lightly toast them and enhance the flavor a bit.
After two minutes, remove the pan from the oven and stir in the toasted coconut flakes and any dried fruit that you want to incorporate. Stir and allow the mixture to cool, in the pan, on a cooling rack. This should take about 45 minutes to an hour for it to cool completely.
Finally
Finally, after it has cooled, you can add the fun stuff. Try adding some chocolate chips or mini marshmallows. The last step in making easy homemade granola obviously, is to eat some, then store the rest.
The granola can be stored at room temperature in an airtight container or a plastic freezer bag with the air removed from the bag.
This will become one of your favorite recipes, indeed!
